Externally bonded fibre reinforced polymer — carbon, glass or aramid fabric bonded to a structure to add strength without adding weight or size.
About Fiber Wrap
Wrapping is structural strengthening that adds millimetres, not centimetres. Fabric is saturated with epoxy and bonded to the prepared surface, where it takes tension the concrete cannot. Columns are confined to raise their axial capacity and ductility; beams and slabs are strengthened in flexure and in shear.
It is the practical route when a structure has to carry more than it was designed for — a change of use, heavier plant, a new seismic assessment — or when corrosion has cost a member section it cannot get back. Installation is fast, needs no heavy plant, and the finished wrap can be coated to match its surroundings.
