About Dry Pack Systems
Dry pack mortar is mixed just wet enough to hold together when it is squeezed. Because there is almost no free water there is almost no shrinkage, so the pack stays in intimate contact with the surfaces around it. It is compacted in thin layers with a hardwood rod, reaching a density a pourable mix cannot achieve in a confined space.
That makes it the right choice for holes deeper than they are wide, for tie holes and form-tie recesses, and for filling under machine bases and structural bearing plates where a gap has to transfer load without settling.
