A hard-wearing metallic or non-metallic aggregate broadcast into fresh concrete and power-floated in — the most economical way to make a slab last under wheeled traffic.
About Dry Shake Surface Hardeners
Dry shake hardeners are applied while the slab is still green. The blended aggregate and cement are spread over the surface, floated in and then power-trowelled, producing a dense monolithic wearing layer far more abrasion-resistant than the concrete underneath it.
Because the topping becomes part of the slab rather than a coating on it, there is nothing to delaminate. Non-metallic grades suit general warehousing and car parks; metallic grades are specified where steel-wheeled traffic, impact or heavy point loads would grind an ordinary floor away.
