Insulated Roof

A roof built as a system rather than a sheet: outer profile, insulation and liner assembled so the building holds its temperature instead of fighting the climate with air conditioning.

About Insulated Roof

In Qatar the roof is the surface that takes the heat, and an uninsulated metal roof turns a warehouse into an oven by mid-morning. An insulated roof puts a controlled thickness of insulation between the outer sheet and the liner — either built up on site over a spacer system or delivered as a factory-bonded sandwich panel — so the heat that would otherwise radiate straight down is stopped at the deck.

We specify the build-up against the use: thicker cores and a vapour check for cold stores and conditioned space, lighter systems where the requirement is comfort rather than process control. Ridge, eaves, valley and penetration details are worked out with the panel, because that is where an insulated roof actually leaks or loses performance if it is going to.

Where It Is Used

  • Warehouses and distribution centres
  • Cold stores and chilled space
  • Factories and production halls
  • Conditioned offices within industrial sheds
  • Any roof carrying a thermal requirement
